Our Daily Bread and COVID-19

How Our Daily Bread is dealing with the Coronavirus    (updated March 24, 2020)

On March 23, the Ontario Government ordered all non-essential businesses to shut down due to the Coronavirus (COVID-19).  In the order, there was provision for certain essential businesses to remain open.  In reviewing the list with our legal counsel, it has been determined that Our Daily Bread Ministries is providing a continuing service to at least 5 different types of essential businesses, which will allow us to continue our warehouse operations with limited staff. Our entire customer service team is now working from home.

    • Windsor, Ontario Office Status:  CUSTOMER SERVICE WORKING AT HOME (Monday to Friday, 8:30am – 4:30pm EDT)
(We are able to answer phones, open mail, process donations and take orders.)
    • Inventory & Shipping:  SHIPPING DAILY WITH MINIMAL STAFF  (We have two staff still working on-site and have taken extra steps to protect them and maintain a safe working distance from each other.  Our replenishment on some items may be delayed, due to delays with couriers and truck lines.)
    • Burnaby, BC Office Status:  CLOSED (Phones in Burnaby have been forwarded to our manager’s cell phone for follow up)
    • Our Daily Bread mailings:  ON SCHEDULE  (All books dated through to May have been mailed.  June books are in process. Our mailing partner is also allowed to stay open at this time.)
  • In the event that our offices are forced to close totally, we will still be able to answer phones, email messages, process donations, and process phone/web orders.  Should you be unable to reach a team member, our system is set up to take a message and then forward that message via email to a staff person for response.
  • The mailing of Our Daily Bread will continue with the current inventory we have on hand (June monthly books), and as long as Canada Post delivers mail. In the event of a postal disruption, please visit ourdailybread.ca for updates, and to read the daily devotion online.
  • Concerns of the spread of the virus on mail is minimal. Paper does not allow the virus to survive as long because the small spaces or holes in the paper can trap the microbe and prevent its transfer. In addition, the sheath around the virus dries in paper, causing the virus to die. Some initial tests have shown the virus lasts less than 24 hours on paper products.
  • Our Daily Bread Ministries Canada is not funded or endowed by any denomination, agency or corporation. During this time, we still rely on the donations of friends and supporters of Our Daily Bread to ensure we are able to maintain our day to day operations. Donations can be made securely online at ourdailybread.ca/donate, through an Interac E-Transfer to ‘donate@odb.ca’ or through your online banking bill payment option (send a donation to Our Daily Bread the same way you pay your bills).
  • Since this situation changes daily, we ask for your prayers, patience and understanding if our customer service response times are delayed, or if mailings do not arrive on time. We are working diligently to ensure we keep on top of the situation to provide you the Scriptural resources you’ve come to rely on each day.
